ENoLL 5th Wave of Living Labs and Smart Cities at the Future Internet Week in Ghent

The Living Labs and Smart Cities: Open innovation for the Future Internet-day, aims to reflect on ‘Smart Cities’ as centres for user-driven open innovation, using Future Internet technology in a user-friendly way to enable a truly knowledge-based society.

Andalusian Network of Living Labs and Social Spaces for Research and Innovation

In mid September, the Institute of Innovation for Human Wellbeing (I2BC), leader in the provision of innovative solutions that improve people’s wellbeing, launched the PLI (People Led Innovation) network. The PLI network, or Red PLI as it is known in Spanish, is the Andalusian Network of Living Labs and Social Spaces for Research and Innovation (SSRIs). This initiative was launched within the framework of the European Project MedLab and forms part of the federated Social Network Lorea.

ENoLL - Apollon Joint Workshop

ENoLL Thematic Domain Workgroup together with Apollon-project, are organizing a joint workshop concentrating on the Living Labs cross-border and cross-thematic cooperation including practical partnerships and models for Living Labs collaboration in relation to EU- and other funding mechanisms, followed by domain specific discussions (Learning Cafe).

The workshop will take place on the 13th of December in conjunction with the Future Internet Week, followed by ENoLL General Assembly. Free of Charge. Space limited - First come, first served basis!

ENoLL at IMAGINA 2011 – 3D Living Innovation

For the 4th consecutive year, “3D Living Innovation”, the living lab of SmartSytem/La Fabrique du Futur will participate at IMAGINA, the big European 3D event, which takes place in Monaco, on February 1-3, 2011.

The First International Open Ubiquitous City Challenge – Call for Proposals

The 1st International Open Ubiquitous City Challenge ("UBI Challenge”) challenges the global R&D community to design, implement, deploy end evaluate novel applications and services in real-world setting in the City of Oulu, Finland.

Finalists get financial support up to 10000 € and MUM 2011 paper (subject to standard peer review).

Spanish Government awards SeniorLab with the Princess Cristina Prize 2010 to “Quality and Best Practices"

The prize values Citilab as a citizen’s laboratory and the work of ValueCreation at SeniorLab. The project aims to overcome the digital gap older citizens suffer, include elders in the co-design of innovative solutions for their well being and create new professional profiles and jobs for citizens over 55 years. The project was also finalist at the Innovation Prize 2010 of the German Chamber of Commerce in Spain.

User-driven innovation and ENoLL in spotlight at Shanghai Expo 2010

ENoLL President Álvaro de Oliveira was one of the key speakers at the Helsinki Region Innovation Days, held on 13-14 October 2010 at the Finnish pavilion during the Shanghai World Expo devoted to "Better City, Better Life". The themes included user-driven innovation and co-operation between European and Finnish partners and China.

Three GNSS Living Lab Prize Winners announced

Among the 57 ideas submitted, three GNSS Living Lab Prize winning ideas have been awarded at the Official Awards Ceremony of the European Satellite Navigation Competition on the 18th October.

Three Living Labs will be selected to host a reality check trial with the winning ideas on their own Living Lab environment, along with the relevant user communities and potential future customers.

EU supported Smart City-project portfolio at Future Internet Week in Ghent

Altogether seven pilot projects were selected for the call for funding under the CIP ICT Policy Support Programme on “Open Innovation for Future Internet-enabled services in "smart" cities from the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP).

Tell your Smart City Living Lab story!

ENoLL together with the FIREBALL -project is making an inventory among the ENoLL members to find existing good examples on how Living Labs are boosting the Smart City evolution. The best examples will have the chance to be presented at the event and influence the emerging landscape of the Smart Cities movement.

The most valuable and visionary contributions will also be invited to be a part of the Showcase development of FIREBALL with the purpose to show the potential of Living Labs and Future Internet enriching the Smart Cities development of European cities.
