- about us
ImaginLab Living Lab, thanks to its diversity of broadband and broadcast infrastructures and its panels of users provides an experimental facility, with services and methodology for enterprises and R&D project wanting to practice user centric R&D. ImaginLab is much centered around the fixed-mobile convergence paradigm and provides both “real” and virtual infrastructures.
The Living Lab is operated by the Images & Réseaux Cluster under ImaginLab brand.
Description of concept
ImaginLab gathers the existing Living Lab initiatives in Brittany, and is articulated over 2 main complementary infrastructures:
ImaginLab covers various areas in Brittany (west part of France), with specific technology focus in the different areas currently connected to the Living Labs. Fixed-mobile convergence is the motor of the Living Lab, technologies cover all fixed and mobile access technologies (FTTH, FTTB), an IMS core network, land and sea wireless access (LTE), digital television (DVB-T2). There is also a wide diversity of users in ImaginLab. One of the main specificity of ImaginLab is to see the technology as a mean to serve the use and to develop services to the whole population on the territory: advanced users with high speed connection and new services (ex: virtual reality), but also rural or maritime population which do not have access to broadband for the time being, and for whom the services remain to be invented.
The Lab has also set-up a common methodology and tools for tests definition and customer involvement, with the M@rsouin project.
ImaginLab offers its infrastructures, methodology and services to companies and project wanting to apply user centric R&D. Morever ImaginLab is interconnected to other Living Lab in Europe by means of the Panlab project.
ImaginLab was formerly registered under « LEVIER » name (Laboratoire d’Expérimentation et Valorisation Images Et Réseaux).
References and Track Record
Numerous projects have been carried so far, like Mazadoo project which aims to facilitate relations between the elderly and generally dependent housed in nursing homes. ImaginLab also experimented IMS based solution for content sharing (COMESI project), live video shooting on LTE (ZeWall project), Voice over LTE subjective evaluation by users, new HEVC encoding scheme and perceived quality on LTE and DVB-T2.
