Description

AIPA is one of the 6 Care Living Labs in Flanders. The goal of the Care Living Labs is to stimulate innovations that contribute to the ageing challenge. AIPA focuses on adaptable housing and environment. AIPA wishes to test which infrastructural, social and societal conditions must be met in order to be able to Age in place.

The AIPA platform wants to achieve this, among others, by having elderly people live in an adapted manner. In this regard, we focus on combating isolation and on the affordability of housing and care. Furthermore, AIPA pays particular attention to socially disadvantaged target groups.

Ageing in place Aalst creates an experimental environment for companies and (care) organizations that wish to understand the current and future needs of the elderly in their home situation and to attune their innovations to them. AIPA is a platform where they can meet one another and the users, each from their own perspective.

The expertise within AIPA focuses on the specific context of housing and the immediate living environment. AIPA hereby offers support in order to more quickly implement, adapt and valorize innovative services, processes and products concretely, efficiently and effectively.

AIPA makes a demonstration residence available in which the latest new applications, infrastructure and services can be tested by the elderly and caregivers themselves. AIPA also uses 40 existing homes of elderly people in order to observe and test the development of necessary adjustments.

These homes are loosely grouped into four 'Home Care Neighborhoods' concentrated around a specific healthcare institute.
